Delete your account
For the Defyn Yourself app, by John Meyer
You only have a Defyn account if you turned on cloud sync by signing in with Google. If you never signed in, there is no account to delete. Everything is on your phone, and uninstalling the app removes it.
1. Save a copy first (optional)
Deletion cannot be undone. To keep your history, open the app and go to Profile → Export Data → Export to CSV before you delete your account.
2. Delete it
Either way takes a minute and happens straight away:
- In the app: Profile → Delete Account, then choose your Google account again to confirm it's you.
- On the web: sign in at reports.defynyourselfapp.com, press Delete account, and confirm with your Google account.
You are asked to choose your Google account a second time on purpose. Deletion only goes ahead if you signed in moments ago, so nobody can do it from a phone or browser you left signed in.
Can't sign in any more?
If you've lost access to the Google account you used, email us instead and we'll verify it's yours another way.
Or write to support@defynyourself.com with the subject "Delete my Defyn account".
We will confirm by email, and complete an emailed request within 30 days, usually much sooner.
What is deleted
- Your sign-in account (the Google identity linked to Defyn).
- Everything synced to it: exercises, programs, workouts, sets, workout notes, and your profile (name, email, gender, date of birth, age, height, weight and target weight).
- Your access to the web dashboard, which reads from that same data.
What is kept, and for how long
- For recovery only, the database keeps point-in-time recovery for 7 days and weekly backups for 14 weeks. Deleted data can remain in those backups for up to 14 weeks, and then it is gone for good. Backups are never restored into your account after you delete it.
- Anonymous app analytics (no training, profile or health data) are kept under Google Analytics' standard retention and are not linked to your name or email.
- Crash reports from the app, which contain no name, email, training, profile or health data, are kept for 90 days and then deleted.
Data on your phone and in other apps
- Deleting from the app also clears that phone. Any other phone you signed in on keeps its own copy until you sign out there (Profile → Sign Out, which clears it) or uninstall the app.
- Workouts already written to Health Connect belong to Health Connect. Remove them in the Health Connect app, or in the app that shows them, such as Samsung Health.
